Research Question

In this project I had 4 research questions which were :
-
How does prior knowledge in this activity help me express and develop new skills?
-
How can I express myself through learning skateboarding tricks?
-
How does prior knowledge in this activity help me motivate myself to learning new skateboarding tricks?
-
How does learning how to do tricks on a skateboard help me express my feelings?
From these 4 questions, I chose the 3rd question: How does prior knowledge in this activity help me motivate myself to learn new skateboarding tricks? I chose this question as my inquiry question because I feel like it has more to do with the global context (personal and cultural expression) since it has to do with expressing feelings and also being personal, and also because it is more deep than the other ones.
Research
My research includes:
-
The different types of skateboarding tricks and what they are.
-
Explanation of how these tricks are done
Ollie - Is a skateboarding trick where the person and the board jump into the air without the use of the person's hand. In other words, it is a jump made without the help of a takeoff ramp, performed by pushing down the back foot of the board's tail, taking the board off the ground.
Frontside 180 - A frontside 180 is a skateboarding trick incorporating an ollie with a 180 degree turn which leads with your chest (front). The board and your body turn 180 degrees at the same time. The frontside 180 is a basic base trick that skaters should learn after mastering the ollie.

Kickflip - Is when the skater/rider does an ollie and kicks his/her foot out and flips the board 360 degrees along its long axis before it lands.
Pop shove it - This trick is similar to the frontside 180. With the pop shove it, the board turns backside for 180 degrees in mid air but the body stays in the same position (Unlike the frontside 180 where the body also has to turn).
Global Context

The global context that I chose for my personal project is personal and cultural expression. The reason why I chose this global context is because I feel like skateboarding is something personal to me since I have been skating from the age of 7, since it has been many years of skating it has become a part of my daily life habit and It has also always been my passion since then. Skateboarding is also my way of expressing my feelings. Everytime I put my foot on a board, there are a lot of emotions going through me. I feel a lot more free and all the problems in my head go away. I feel a lot happier, excited, in peace, and also that adrenaline rush.
